Classy Comment of the Week
A male blogger commenting on one of my posts trotted out the “girls are icky” approach to debating a woman:
I don’t think that’s ever been the response when I’m arguing with a guy…if you know what I mean.
Of course, he refused to elaborate on what exactly he meant.
Maybe for an encore he can take me to task for missing a dose of Midol. You know, if he’s not too busy enjoying some hot man-on-man debate action.

He and his friend who commented seem to think that women aren’t supposed to talk back. Maybe in their world, they don’t.
Kudos to trying to reason with someone who uses “but you support gay marriage” as code for “you’re not a real conservative.”
Heh, Trish, I guess you Googled to find the comment. :)
Life is short. I have no time for discussion with someone who uses my gender as a point of debate.
Thanks for the kudos!
Hmmm. Maybe you shouldn’t rail so irrationally against feminists, Jen. Even if you’re not a feminist, which is cool, you kind of look like a hypocrite/fool by complaining against sexism and then sniggering at how “oversensitive” those feminists are.
“Julie,” your comment demonstrates you have no familiarity with my writing. I don’t rail against feminists, I criticize a certain type of “progressive” feminist, the sort who treat women’s equality like a multi-player role-playing game.
If you think it’s hypocritical to mock a sexist attitude while also mocking modern leftist feminism, you clearly don’t know the meaning of the words “hypocritical” or “sexist.”
But thanks so much for the braindead comment. Apparently you’re so sure of yourself that you also sent me a nasty email under the name “Mike” (yes, jackass, I can check IP addresses.)
Silly, silly, troll. You have beclowned yourself.
“Apparently you’re so sure of yourself that you also sent me a nasty email under the name “Mike†(yes, jackass, I can check IP addresses.)”
Um, you failed at that check I guess. That wasn’t an IP address you checked, you internet wizard you, that was my husband’s email address. The one we use for Spam.
Sorry to have gotten you all hissy. Might want to be a little less sensitive. But my point still stands. Your rants have nothing to do with a “certain kind” of feminism.
Oh yes, and I apologize, I’ll be sure to give you a trigger warning for my comments from now on. Looks like you could really have used one:
‘Apparently without trigger warnings, legions of feminists might find themselves rocking back and forth, sucking their thumbs, and eating their own hair (which gives me a great idea, but I digress.”

Ha, ha, ha. Julie, you’re a liar *and* a troll. I received a message from “Mike” with *literally* the same IP address used when “julie” trolls my blog.
Also, thanks for Internet stalking me. It’s nice to have such rabid fans.
Sweetheart, do you understand how a network works? You know, one server, multiple users? One IP address? And possibly other people named Mike?
Yeah, we passed around your blog link for lulz at the office.
“internet stalking?” I guess if you need to believe that to bolster your self-esteem, you just go on believing it, then, girl! Looks like reality doesn’t seem to interfere with your concept of the world, so whatever.
Right. So your whole office, which could indeed plausibly share the same IP, also uses your husband’s email address as a spam account? The beclowning continues.
Oh, and by the way? You’re banned. You’re not entertaining enough to justify the minuscule amount of bandwidth your comments consume each time someone accesses this page.
