Will Bill O’Reilly’s Webmaster Be Able to Spin This?
Bill O’Reilly likes to say he’s “looking out for you,” but who’s looking out for O’Reilly?
Not his Webmaster, apparently.
Disgruntled hackers took control of BillOreilly.com on Friday and posted screenshots of the administrative interface on Wikileaks.org as proof of their electronic invasion. Wikileaks was told the breach was in retaliation for O’Reilly’s sharp criticism of sites that published some of Sarah Palin’s inbox after her email account was hacked earlier this week.
Here’s the text from the Wikileaks entry:
The file provides proof that the Fox News demagogue, Bill O’Reilly, has been hacked.
Wikileaks has been informed the hack was a response to the pundit’s recent scurrilous attacks over the Sarah Palin’s email story–including those on Wikileaks and other members of the press. Hacktivists, thumbing their noses at the pundit, took control of O’Reilly’s main site, BillOReilly.com. According to our source, the security protecting O’Reilly’s site and subscribers was “non-existent”.
And here’s a bit more from someone who claims to be involved in the hacking:
it was easy really we searched his website and found this link here [url removed] to all those passwords and they were unencrypted and it didnt require a login, Bill needs to really fire his webmaster lol
Yeah, I’m sure Bill is LOL. That person pins the hacking on Ebaumsworld users, but a commenter suggests users of the 4chan boards have been known to use Ebaumsworld as a cover.
The stolen information includes the names, e-mail addresses, and passwords of BillOreilly.com premium members, as well as their geographical locations. While only a handful of members had their information published at Wikileaks, more than 200 individuals currently have their member data being passed around the Web via popular file hosts and peer-to-peer file sharing.
The Register spoke to Eric Marston, the CTO of the company responsible for O’Reilly’s site.
According to Marston, the hackers were able to access the unsecured list by trying a large number of variations of the website’s administrative URL. He said all affected members have received an email and a phone call informing them of the breach and urging them to change their password anywhere they may have used it. No credit card information was stolen, and the site has since been completely locked down, Marston said.
The Register also points out that even though no credit card data was pilfered, the victims are vulnerable to identity theft and further hacks since people often use the same password on multiple systems.
Threat Level and Gateway Pundit have more.
Dear Jong
This weekend feminist author Erica Jong published a “Dear John” letter addressing John McCain. Among other things, she called Sarah Palin a racist. This is my response.
Dear Jong,
Erica, on Saturday I read your HuffPo piece, Not That Stupid: Erica Jong’s Dear John Letter, in which you label Sarah Palin a racist for cutting funding to black teen mothers, and I wanted to tell you you’re right. You’re right that American women are “not that stupid.” Most of us don’t buy it when you try to peddle your fictions as fact.
Calling Sarah Palin an anti-feminist racist was nothing more than an amateurish attempt to advertise to the world how progressive you are. Perhaps circulating that lie was some sort of perverted apology to black Americans for the white privilege that plagues you so?
Erica, I understand you’re a 9/11 truther, so facts may not interest you, but I’d like to set the record straight for any of your readers who happen upon this letter.
“Cutting funding for black teenage mothers is anti-feminist and racist,” you wrote.
The myth that Sarah Palin slashed funding to teen mothers arose from a Washington Post report about government money allocated to Covenant House Alaska, an organization that happens to run a home for teenage moms. As I’m sure you already know, that smear has been thoroughly debunked.
Sarah Palin actually increased Covenant House funding by more than three times, from 1.3 million dollars in 2007 to 3.9 million in 2008. The state of Alaska will be phasing in further support for a capital project Covenant House has undertaken.
The notion that Sarah Palin somehow directly targeted black teenage mothers is truly absurd. Even if Governor Palin had cut the Covenant House budget (which she didn’t), African-American clients made up just 11 percent of the youth they served in 2007 (PDF). Perhaps, Erica, you decided otherwise when you looked at the Covenant House Web site. A photo of a black teen must mean all of their clients are black, right?
Or maybe you simply made it up.
Did you think spreading lies about racism was funny? Did you try convince yourself you were working in the interest of “the greater good”? Or were you trying to soothe your guilty conscience by publicly coming to the “defense” of black people?
Racism is alive and well in America, and there’s a filthy trail of it leading right to your wretched heart. Next time you decide to write something, Erica, we’ll tell you thanks, but no thanks.

Bristol Palin and the Omniscient Media
If I had a swing state vote for every pundit, reporter, columnist, and netizen who presumes to know the secrets of 17-year-old Bristol Palin’s sex life, I could win this election for the McCain/Palin ticket. Give me another vote for every kitchen table pundit decrying Sarah Palin’s views on birth control and sex education, and we’d have a landslide of historic proportions.
Bristol Palin “had unprotected sex with her boyfriend and took the risk of getting pregnant,” the editor-in-chief of Seventeen tells us. She was failed by abstinence-based sex ed that gives “teenagers as little practical information as possible,” asserts Joan Smith. Her “predicament” is likely due to the state of sex ed in our “puritanical society,” says NYT columnist Charles Blow. “They don’t sell Trojans in Alaska?” scoffs Dave Letterman. And Kos reveals his intimate knowledge of Bristol Palin’s birth control practices with this gem: “Bristol would’ve been better served with a discussion about safe sex. Instead, she’s now facing a shotgun wedding to the baby’s father.”
But how many of these people were there the night Bristol conceived?
That’s right, not one.
Not one of them knows whether Bristol Palin and her fiancé were practicing safe sex and not one of them knows whether the couple received comprehensive sex education.
That’s not what the liberal media would have you think. They know what happened because they know what kind of people the Palins are. Only their bible-thumping, Christianist ways, complete with abstinence-only education and a prohibition on contraception, could have caused a teen girl to get pregnant.
And that, of course, is a crock.
Sarah Palin is pro-contraception and approves of sex ed. She does not favor explicit sex education, but supports an approach that discusses both abstinence and contraception, including condoms.
Sarah Palin’s (fairly moderate) views on sex ed and birth control are fair game for the “keep your laws off my body” crowd. Bristol Palin’s sexual experiences are not, and concocting fictions in the absence of details only makes the barrage of opinion from the MSM and blogosphere more unseemly.
Sarah Palin, Brain Rapist?
Things Cintra Wilson believes Sarah Palin has done to her:
- ideologically brain raped her
- mortally offended her
- made her retch into her handbag
- made her feel like a ghetto Jew watching the rise of National Socialism
- shanghaied her
I’d like to be the first to thank Sarah Palin for her efforts. Having had the extraordinary displeasure of being ideologically brain raped by Cintra Wilson at a KGB Bar reading a few years ago, I can’t help but feel that Sarah Palin has paid her back on my behalf.
You can witness the full extent of Cintra Wilson’s extreme Palin Derangement Syndrome in her diatribe on the governor, also known as that “enabling wife of organized crime, who sees, hears and speaks no evil of the boys in her old-boy network for whom she does this ideological lap dance.”
Hat tip to Jonah Goldberg who thinks Sarah Palin should simply read this at a press conference verbatim.
The Source of the Sambo Smear
Bill Hennessy is doing the job the liberal media won’t: vetting the source of unsubstantiated Sarah Palin rumors.
Hennessy has made it his quest to ferret out the true identity and qualifications of foul smear merchant and self-anointed “independent investigative journalist” Charley James. Charley is the vacuous slob responsible for fabricating the “part Aboriginal” waitress named Lucille NoLastName. He claims she’s an anonymous source who overheard Sarah Palin say to her dining companions, “So Sambo beat the bitch!” when speaking of Senators Obama and Clinton.
As Dr. Melissa Clouthier points out, this would be comedy gold if Charley James wasn’t trying to pass it off as serious.
Charley’s ugly prevarications spread rapidly to the seediest dens of liberal iniquity, like Kos and Democratic Underground, then leached out into the wider blogosphere, including Barack Obama’s campaign site. His lies are inadequately sourced to the point of absurdity, and his credentials as a journalist are extraordinarily suspect. But as NewsBusters reminds us, “It doesn’t have to be true, it just has to be repeated enough for people to hear Palin and the disparaging remark together in a sentence.” Ugh.
Hennessy is doing the legwork to find out just who this charlatan is, and what his ties might be to the Obama machine. I’ll be eagerly awaiting the results.
Sarah Palin Fact: Sarah Palin Bans Books Years Before They’re Published
(image: Wasilla Public Library)
In 1996, Sarah Palin banned Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone from the Wasilla Public Library. Of course, it wasn’t published until 1998, but that just proves what I’ve been saying all along: Sarah Palin’s readiness to lead is due largely to her unparalleled precognitive ability.
Michelle Malkin has more on Sarah Palin’s uncanny ability to clear library shelves in a single bound.
Let’s hope Barack Obama’s campaign strategists never find out that in 1963 Sarah Palin organized a community-wide effort to find and destroy all copies of The Audacity of Hope.
Sarah Palin Facts has more little known gems about Governor Palin.
